Microdermabrasion Treatments
You just turned 25 and most of your acne has disappeared, but those awful scars are still there. They make you look much older than you really are. Wouldn't it be nice if you could improve your skin's appearance and look your actual age?
Microdermabrasion is a possible option to make your skin look youthful again. It's quite an aggressive procedure that literally removes skin layers. Before you decide to undergo microdermabrasion you will want to look at other options first. Good quality skin scrubs are an excellent way to slowly improve skin texture. Start with a not too harsh scrub and monitor your skin's appearance. Do note that scrubs will cause redness after applying as it removes dead skin cells from your skin and stimulates blood flow due to your fingertips massaging the scrub substance over your face. A scrub should not be used more than twice a week, and if your skin responds negatively then you should only scrub once a week.
Scars heal very slowly, and some scar tissue will not heal unless removed. Scars caused by acne usually will fade somewhat but remain visible if you have been severely affected by acne. Microdermabrasion is a way to remove the upper skin layers and activate skin renewal. This is not a one-time procedure, depending on the severity of your scars it may take many procedures for the skin to look better.
Microdermabrasion is not without its risks. However, it still remains one of the safest skin care procedures. Infection, bleeding and skin discolouration can occur. Make sure you go to a certified dermatologist who will fully inform you of the risks and advantages of this form of skin care treatment. After each treatment your skin will need to heal, it will look red and is very sensitive to touch and temperature differences.
If all goes well you will see results after several treatments. Your skin will look smoother, pores will appear smaller, and scars are no longer as deep as they once were.
There are also milder microdermabrasion products for sale in stores, we do however suggest that you consult a dermatologist first before buying such products. This is to ensure you get the products that are right for your individual health situation.
