General Acne Information
We have a few different words for acne - some call it pimples, blemishes or the kinda cute “zits”. Whichever word you use we are all talking about the not so pleasant condition in which bumps holding not very tasty liquids appear on your body. Teens get them, adults get them. It's a myth that you suddenly have perfectly acne-free skin when you turn 20. Some people use the word “pimples” to describe a milder form of acne, we all get pimples. Acne can be quite severe causing scarring once it subsides. Thankfully these days there are methods to improve your skin's texture using processes such as micro dermabrasion. This process basically removes the top layers of your skin and stimulates skin cell renewal, making the skin look more even. There are a lot of misunderstandings surrounding acne. For example science still hasn't found a clear link between food and acne. Quite a few people report that by eating chocolate they see an increase in acne. Fat foods in general MAY have a bad effect on your skin, obviously moderate amounts are important for your body's functioning - so don't exclude ALL fat from your diet!
That teenagers are affected by acne is most likely caused by hormonal imbalances. The same applies to pregnant women, they often get a form of acne during pregnancy. Acne has also been linked with menstrual cycles.
Severe acne has a bad effect on a human's self-confidence. People can become introvert, or less likely to attend social gatherings because of their bad skin. Women affected by acne can use make-up to cover some of their acne, however, there has been some research that suggests that make-up can actually make acne worse because it clogs up the skin. It's very important to start treating your acne as soon as possible. You can prevent a lot of problems if you start early, including emotional instabilities and skin damage.
